The Video Level:
A method of representing data using continuously varying electrical voltages.
Analog video, is subject to degradation due to noise, distortion and other electronic
phenomena. Normal signal levels should be 1volt. If video levels drop to far below
1volt the video signal will be distorted or lost. If the video level is greater then 1volt
"hot signal" distortion usually appears to changes in the luminance or chrominance
portions of a signal. It may contort the picture and produce improper contrast, faulty
luminance levels, twisted images, erroneous colors and/or snow.

The second mode is the Composite Video Level "VID". While in this mode
we are measuring the composite video level, (1 V p-p). The VM-417
has the ability to read 0-280 IRE while in this mode, an optimum level
is 140 IRE.
